How We Serve

Zachariah's Acres hosts nature-based experiences for children with special needs and their families. When families attend one of our signature events, they create life-long memories, enhance social skills, strengthen family relationships, and simply relax in nature. Favorite activities include fishing, guided nature walks and rolls through prairie grass and wildflowers, snowshoeing, sleigh rides, hay wagon rides, visit our accessible treehouse, apple picking, or cooking in our educational kitchen.

More than 38 schools, nonprofits, and community partners visit Zachariah's Acres on a regular basis for educational field trips, outdoor recreation, vocational skills training, volunteer opportunities, and hands-on learning.

Students, families, educators, and young adults thrive on the campus of Zachariah’s Acres! We exist to serve children with special needs, and their families through nature-based experiences (Honor Moms & Welcome Spring, Summer Adventure Days, Fall Fest, etc.). Collaboration with special education classrooms and non-profit partners allow us to enhance learning through hands-on activities tailored to the needs of their group (nature-based field trips, vocational skill training, volunteer opportunities, etc.). Students (18-21 yrs) from local school districts learn how to grow fresh produce through our Seed to Sale program. Young adults who have graduated find purpose and belonging in our Garden Club, their gifts are unveiled through serving (washing eggs, designing flower bouquets, harvesting and packaging produce, staffing our farm store…).

"Michael's involvement in the Garden Club at Zachariah's Acres has given him a sense of purpose and a feeling of belonging. The staff at Zachariah Acres have welcomed him and our entire family with open arms. We are so grateful for this. It is truly a place where families and their children can be a part of unique events while feeling completely accepted and connected."
